Massive Military Exercise Underway In Iran

Iran Launches Massive Military Exercise, State Media Reports -- NBC

DUBAI - Iran launched large-scale air defense drills in the country's eastern half on Monday, Iranian media reported, amid heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington over a military incident in the Gulf reported last week.

The "Velayat-4" maneuvers being held this week will span a massive stretch in Iran's northeast, east, and southeast regions - about half its total land mass. The area is not far from its borders with Afghanistan, Pakistan and Turkmenistan, where there are large concentrations of U.S. troops.

The week-long maneuvers will include about 8,000 troops, drawn both from Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and its regular military, several media outlets said.

Iran's military has 545,000 active personnel and some of the most advanced military technology of anyone out there.

The thing is, the United States gave them a lot of it.

Granted, it wasn't the modern Iran that we stocked up with some of the hottest tech of the time, but the pre-revolutionary country that, at one point, was a key ally of the United States in the Middle East.

Still, Iran has developed their own military industrial complex to develop, maintain, and upgrade military resources.

And they've gotten pretty good at it.

Iran Showcases New Military Might -- RT

Tehran has unveiled its latest military technological advancement demonstrating its readiness to fend-off any military threats. Amid threats of imminent retaliation, Iran revealed on Monday its advanced drones and also test-launched new missiles.

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) also showcased its new unmanned aerial vehicle, Shahed 129, that is designed for combat and reconnaissance missions with its 24-hour nonstop flight capability.

DUBAI (Reuters) - Israel will eventually go beyond threats and will attack Iran, the commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guards was quoted as saying on Saturday.

As speculation mounts that Israel could launch air strikes on Iran before U.S. elections in November, Mohammad Ali Jafari told a news conference that the Jewish state would be destroyed if it took such a step.
